A Lifetime of Service to Our Community

Growing up in San Juan County, Brenna Clani-Washinawatok witnessed the real challenges local families faced in the 11th Judicial District from public safety concerns to economic hardship. Driven by a belief that justice should be accessible and fair to all, she dedicated her career to public service.

After graduating from Stanford University and earning her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico, Judge Clani-Washinawatok returned home to make a difference. Over her 20-year legal career, she has handled complex cases in federal, state, and tribal courts, serving as a prosecutor, child support hearing officer, domestic violence commissioner, and now District Court Judge.

She is proud to serve as the first Native American woman to sit as a District Court Judge in the 11th Judicial District.

She is running for re-election because the people of San Juan and McKinley County deserve a judge who understands their experiences and makes fair, impartial decisions.
